THE MUSICIANS

Apart from Innkvisitio, Mikko Innanen (born 1978) is mostly known for his participation as a saxophone player and composer in various collaborative groups, such as Delirium (with Kasper Tranberg, Jonas Westergaard and Stefan Pasborg), Triot (with Nicolai Munch-Hansen and Stefan Pasborg), Gourmet (with Ilmari Pohjola, Veli Kujala, Esa Onttonen, Petri Keskitalo and Mika Kallio), Mikko Innanen-Jaak Sooäär-Han Bennink Trio, Mikko Innanen-Mika Kallio Duo, Mr Fonebone (with Antti Rissanen, Kari Ikonen, Tuure Koski and Mika Kallio) and Nuijamiehet (with Kalle Kalima, Lasse Lindgren and Mika Kallio). He has also played and recorded with a number of other well-known artists such as saxophonists John Tchicai and Liudas Mockunas and trumpeters Ingrid Jensen and Anders Bergcrantz as well as groups such as Iro Haarla-Ulf Krokfors Loco Motife (Penguin Beguine, TUM CD 011), Teddy Rok 7 (led by Teppo Mäkynen), Itchy ( Jacob Dinesen, Jeppe Skovbakke and Rune Kielsgaard), Triade (Cedric Piromalli, Sebastian Boisseau and Nicolas Larmignat) and the UMO Jazz Orchestra. He received his Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy in 2003.

Timo Lassy (born 1974) is best known for his work with U-Street All Stars, The Five Corners Quintet and Teddy Rok 7 as well as with trumpeter Jukka Eskola and saxophonist Jimi Tenor. His strong and somewhat bluesy style on the saxophones and the flute has made him a favorite of listeners and fellow musicians from Helsinki to Istanbul. Lassy received his Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy in 2005.

Seppo Kantonen (born 1963) has performed actively since 1982. Whether on acoustic piano or on other keyboards, Kantonen has an approach that is as energetic as it is effective. He is featured on over 150 recordings ranging from jazz and rock to pop and classical music. He has played with numerous notable musicians and groups including saxophonist Eero Koivistoinen and bassist Pekka Pohjola as well as the UMO Jazz Orchestra, Klang, Suhkan Uhka (Suhka, TUM CD 001), Avanti! and Albero. He has performed all over Europe as well as Egypt, India, Japan, South Africa and the United States. Kantonen teaches at the Sibelius Academy.

Joonas Riippa (born 1977) possesses the rare ability to always play for the band and the music. Riippa has worked with trumpeter Verneri Pohjola, saxophonists Jussi Kannaste and Markus Holkko, pianist Heikki Sarmanto, the group WARP! and a vast number of other musicians and groups often involving other students from the Sibelius Academy where he has studied since 1999.
