Tara’s Song, the initial recording of Ahmed Abdullah’s
Ebonic Tones, featuring saxophonist Alex Harding, violinist Billy
Bang, bassist Alex Harding and drummer Andrei Strobert, presents
a musical journey through a wide array of musical styles in order
to help us understand what Abdullah himself calles “Jazz:
The Music of the Spirit”. In addition to Abdullah’s
own works, compositions by Ornette Coleman, Frank Lowe, Thelonius
Monk and Sun Ra are also presented.
Tara’s Song was recorded in May 2004 at LoHo Studios in New
York City by Robert Musso with assistant engineer Gus Oberg. The
recording was mixed and mastered by Henrik Otto Donner and Esa Santonen
at DER in Tammisaari , Finland.
